Who is eligible?

Disabled children and young people up to the age of 25 who need specialist mobility equipment or a wheelchair to help them become more independent.

The child or young person must be resident in the UK.

We will only provide aids that are not normally available through the NHS. Visit my AFK's website for a list of items we do not give grants for.

How to apply?

You can apply directly, or a carer or professional can apply on your behalf. Before applying to us you will need to arrange an assessment with a representative of the equipment supplier(s) and an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. Assessments can usually take place at home or in school or college.

After you have arranged an assessment you can complete the application form, which you can download from the website

We do not give emergency grants. We aim to fund items costing less than £3,000 within 6-9 months and more expensive items within 12-18 months. Please note that high cost powerchairs with multiple specialist functions can sometimes take a little longer.
