How to apply?

The Alexander Darling Silk Mercer's Fund is a charity administered by the Edinburgh Merchant Company. It employs an Almoner who assesses need and reports to the Fund before any grant is awarded.

We welcome approaches for help at any time from any source or from individuals themselves by phone/email/by letter either to the Merchant Company offices or directly to the Almoner.

Having obtained basic details about the person needing help, a home visit is then arranged and the Almoner will take the application form for completion during the visit. One of the reasons for doing things this way is that if we are unable to help, we may be able to suggest other possibilities.
