Bank Workers Charity

We help current and former bank workers and their families in the UK. We do this by providing information, advice and in some cases financial support.

Please note: we do not consider grants or support for people that are only a current or former Building Society employee and not owned by a main stream bank.

Who is eligible?

For us to be able to help, you should be one of the following:

  • Current bank worker.
  • Former bank worker.
  • Partner or dependants of a current or former bank worker.
  • We would usually expect those applying to have less than £16,000 in savings, and £23,500 if the applicant is in a care home. This does not include house equity. We will also take into account any capital.

Subject to application form and assessment, we may be able to provide support with:

  • short term costs, such as general living expenses
  • long term costs, such as disability aids or home adaptations
  • respite breaks for carer or person being cared for, or both
  • transport costs, such as hospital or treatment facility visits
  • funeral expenses

We are unable to fund:

  • Personal debt
  • Loans
  • Medical fees
  • Legal expenses
  • Private school fees
  • Property enhancements

We cannot provide financial support in situations where statutory funding has not been explored. If you are not sure whether you are eligible for our services please call our helpline for an informal chat with one of our Client Advisers.

How to apply?

If you are enquiring via the Turn2us online enquiry form, please include name(s) of bank(s) you worked for and number of years service in the 'Tell us why you are applying for help' section at the bottom of the form.

You can also speak to a Client Adviser for advice and guidance on 0800 0234 834 or via Live Chat during our working hours of Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Alternatively you can leave a message via our website

If we are able to send you an application the charity aims to provide an outcome within three weeks of receipt of your application form and all information requested.

For some services and for financial support we need to consider other criteria like length of service and their financial situation. We will also ask for pension or workplace details to confirm the client’s banking connection. We are independent of banks and we will not share clients' personal information with them.
