British Association of Former United Nations Civil Servants Benevolent Fund

Grants for former employees of the United Nations or its Organisations and Bodies and their dependants who live in the UK. Beneficiaries do not have to be members of the BAFUNCS Association.

The Fund can support people in a variety of ways:

  • Medical and surgical care
  • Respite care, to release a family carer
  • Convalescence, including short term home help
  • Disability aids: mobility equipment such as special wheel chairs; stair lifts; bathing hoists; specialised vision & hearing aids
  • Household aids for the ill, disabled or frail: "Bleep" warning systems; controlled entrance door locks; rising chairs and bed lifts; walk-in baths or showers
  • Assistance towards transport costs for hospital out-patient visits; or visits by family or a BAFUNCS member to a hospitalised patient
  • Convalescent visits to family and convalescent holidays
  • Loans or grants to meet short-term emergencies
  • Grants on compassionate grounds

Who is eligible?

Former employees of the United Nations or its Organisations and Bodies and their dependants who live in the UK. Beneficiaries do not have to be members of the Association.

Please note that the fund can't give grants for anything that should be provided by statutory sources, such as the NHS or social services.
