Butchers’ & Drovers’ Charitable Institution

One-off grants and ongoing payments for people in need who have worked in any area of the meat industry whether wholesale, retail or otherwise. Help may also be given to their dependent family members or widows/widowers. 

Applicants must have worked in the trade for at least 10 years within the last 20 years.

Who is eligible?

You can apply if :

  • you have worked in the meat industry for at least 10 years within the last 20 years
  • you are the partner or dependent child of someone who worked in the meat industry for at least 10 years.

The charity can help with fees in a residential or nursing home and funeral costs. 

What we can't help with

No grants for bankruptcy, debts or DROs. 

How to apply?

Download an application form from the BDCI website or contact the charity to ask for an application form. 

Applications are considered every two months. You must provide evidence of your connection with the meat trade as well as financial details, including any income you and your partner receive. The charity gives preference to applications which are supported in writing by existing meat traders.
