Church Burgesses Educational Foundation

The Foundation gives educational grants to young people under the age of 25 who have permanently lived in the City of Sheffield for three years. This does not include people who have only lived in the area for educational purposes, for example for university.

Young people can also apply if a parent has lived in City of Sheffield for at least three years.

The Foundation usually gives grants to primary and secondary school students. Grants are only given to A-Level students in extreme circumstances.

Who is eligible?

Under 25s who have lived in, or whose parents have lived in, the City of Sheffield for at least three years. The Foundation usually gives grants to children in primary and secondary school. 

What we can't give grants for

  • Tuition fees, except in extreme circumstances

  • A-Level students, except in extreme circumstances

  • Postgraduate students except in extreme cases or where they need to take the course because they are retraining for good reason
