EMMS International (Hawthorn Brae)

EMMS International funds respite holidays for people living in Edinburgh with life-limiting illnesses who are on low incomes.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be:

  •  be resident within the Edinburgh City boundary, and  
  •  be recovering from an illness, and   
  •  have insufficient funds to pay for a holiday themselves, and  
  •  be of ‘good character’.

Retrospective applications will not be considered.

How to apply?

Individuals should not apply directly. Instead, applications should be made by a sponsor who must be an individual from a recognised organisation that has passed EMMS International's due diligence process, such as the City of Edinburgh Council and Waverley Care.

There are two application forms to be completed:

Application Form 1: To provide information about the client to be sent to EMMS International by email

Application Form 2:  To provide medical information about the client to be sent to EMMS International's medical assessor, Dr William Campbell, at email: william.campbell36@btinternet.com

Please read the Guidelines for Sponsors on the EMMS International website for more information on how the grants work and how to fill in the forms.

It usually takes at least six weeks to process an application form.

Application forms can be downloaded from the EMMS International website, or by contacting the organisation.  The name of the client must be supplied at the time an application form is requested. Photocopied application forms tend to be illegible, so please fill out the original forms.
