Family Fund

Family Fund helps low-income families caring for a disabled or seriously ill child or young person aged 17 or under living in the UK. They support them by providing grants that relate to the needs of the disabled child or young person. The way we work with families in Wales has changed. This follows the award of a three-year funding agreement from Welsh Government, commencing April 2016. Families need to be aware of the following key changes to our grants criteria:

  • Families in Wales are not able to apply for a grant if they have received a grant from Family Fund in the last three years. However, we will still consider urgent grants for families requiring support with hospital visiting costs and similar needs, or where a family is in crisis
  • Families will still be able to download or order application forms from the website/over the phone, but they will no longer be able to apply for a grant online.

Who is eligible?

Family Fund helps low-income families caring for a disabled or seriously ill child or young person aged 17 or under living in the UK. They support them by providing grants that relate to the needs of the disabled child or young person.

Please note: We are unable to help children and young people in local authority care, including those living with foster carers. We are also unable to help with requests where a statutory agency (such as local authorities or health services) has a responsibility to provide the item needed.

How to apply?

Applications can be made by parents, carers or young people aged 16 and 17. Download an application form from the charity's website

Remember, we can only help families once every 12 months. Your last award letter will include information about when you can next apply.
