John Matthews Educational Charity

Grants for young people up to the age of 25 who live in the communities of Chirk, Llanarmon-Yn-Lal, Llandegla, Llangollen Rural and Llantysilio who need financial assistance with their education or training. In the past the Charity has supported musicians, actors, journalists, tree surgeons and medical students to assist with purchasing specialist equipment or specialist course fees

Who is eligible?

Young people up to the age of 25 who live in the communities of Chirk, Llanarmon-Yn-Lal, Llandegla, Llangollen Rural and Llantysilio.

What the charity can help with

  • lessons, or the purchase of equipment for very talented students
  • specialist books, tools or equipment necessary for apprenticeship, or career related activities or courses for school leavers
  • university or college course fees

Download an application form from the John Mathews Charity website and send the complete application form along with a covering letter and proof of identity.

Trustees usually meet twice a year in May and November.
