Lady Allen of Hurtwood Memorial Trust

The Trust provides grants to enable people working with children to travel at home or abroad for the purpose of enlarging their experience and enhancing the quality of their work. Applications are particularly welcomed from those working with disadvantaged or disabled children.

Please note that grants are not available for academic research or courses leading to a qualification.

Who is eligible?

People working with children and young people (particularly disabled and disadvantaged children). 

An example of a successful applicant is a special needs teacher to visit North America to study social cognition in children with severe learning difficulties, with a view to including their methods in his school where the benefits are currently being assessed

What we can't help with

  • Academic course fees
  • Attendance at specific conferences
  • Building and equipping centres
  • Gap year / Sixth Form projects or similar travel proposals
  • Medical electives
  • Retrospective funding
  • Supporting individual children
