Lancashire County Nursing Trust

Grants for people of all ages who are sick or in need who live in the Lancashire, Greater Manchester and South Cumbria catchment areas. Grants are also available for retired district nurses that have worked in these areas at one time, even if they have not lived there. 

Grants are normally a maximum of £500 and occasionally repeat grants can be given. Examples of grants given in the past are:

  • Replacement washing machines
  • Part of a syndicate purchasing larger items/repairs to properties
  • Food for special diets
  • Assistance towards home adaptations
  • Radio or TV for people who are housebound
  • Purchase of a Kindle reader and funds to download books

Who is eligible?

People who are sick or in need who live in the Lancashire, Greater Manchester and South Cumbria catchment areas. 

Retired district nurses that have worked at some time in the above catchment area can also apply.

The applicant cannot have any extra savings.

Please note: we cannot give grants to people who live outside of the catchment area, unless they are retired district nurses who have worked in the area.

How to apply?

Individuals can apply directly or a third party can apply on their behalf. Applications are considered all year round. 

In writing or by email. The applicant will need to show:

  • Evidence of illness (it should be confirmed by medical evidence e.g. from GP, or hospital, or health visitor
  • A simple weekly or monthly income and expenditure schedule
  • That they do not have any extra savings
  • Their home address, or evidence of working within the catchment area if they are a retired district nurse.
