LATCH (Llandough Aim to Treat Children with Cancer and Leukaemia with Hope)

The LATCH Social Worker Team can assist families in applying for a range of LATCH grants designed to ease the financial burden. 

One-off and recurrent grants for children and the families of children who have cancer and leukaemia (including tumours), who are in need of financial assistance.

Who is eligible?

Children who have cancer and leukaemia (including tumours) and have been referred to the Paediatric Oncology Unit at The Children's Hospital for Wales.

  • An initial financial support grant to cover the families’ immediate needs
  • Travel costs to cover trips to and from hospital
  • Subsistence grants to help with day to day living expenses
  • General household expenses to cover utility bills and the purchase of specialised equipment for the home
  • Childcare costs to help look after brother and sisters whilst the parents are in hospital
  • Holiday Grants to give the families a well deserved break

How to apply?

Through one of the LATCH social workers, who submit applications for consideration by the trust.

Information is also given on grants available from other organisations such as respite care.

LATCH currently has five branches across Wales who co-ordinate and organise fundraising activities within their own local communities as well as providing a useful local support network to families:
