Pearn Charitable Trust

The Pearn Charitable Trust aims to reduce social isolation and offer financial assistance to older people (aged 50+), who are in need and living in Plymouth independently.

Who is eligible?


  • Must live in the Plymouth area

  • Must be 50 or more years of age.

What we might give grants for:

Each application is considered on a case by case basis, but in the past we have given grants for:

  • Household furniture, for example pots, pans, plates, lamp shades, beds and couches
  • White goods
  • Mobility scooter rain cover
  • Garden Furniture

We we can't help with

  • debt
  • bankruptcy
  • private school fees
  • funeral costs
  • holidays
  • cars

How to apply?

Applications can be made directly by the individual or through an organisation related to the aims of the charity.

You can request an application form on the How to Apply section of the Pearn Charitable Trust website.  You can also ask for one by contacting the charity by phone or email.

Documents needed

  • A supporting letter/statement from a professional

  • Supporting medical certificate or letter to confirm health issues

  • Information about the applicant's financial situation may be asked for.


Grant applications are considered every two months.

The charity replies to all applicants, whether or not it can help.

Grants are made either directly to the individual or to the supplier of the goods/services the grant is given for.

The Trustees' decision is final.
