Richard Watts and The City of Rochester Almshouse Charities

Grants are available for people of any age who are in financial need who live within the ME1 and ME2 postcode areas. The charity can fund essential items such as:

  • school uniforms and clothing
  • cookers and fridges.
  • small pension top-ups for older people 
  • financial support for trade apprentices up to the age of 25

People in financial need who live within the ME1 and ME2 postcode areas in Rochester.

Please note that your application needs to include a letter of support from Social Services, GP, school or other care organisation is needed in most cases. You will also need to provide details about your financial situation.

Everyone who applies for any of these grants will be interviewed by a Trustee before a final decision can be made. All applications will be treated in strictest confidence. These items are purchased by RWC for the applicant and payment is made direct to the shop or supplier.

Other information

The charity also runs an almshouse and offers older people help with household chores such as cleaning, home deliveries and making telephone calls.
