Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (Welfare)

RAFBF provides past and present members of the Royal Air Force or associated forces and their immediate dependants (under 18) with financial assistance. We also have an in house advice and advocacy service that provides advice and assistance on issues such as Welfare Benefits, Housing and Care.

Please note that only third parties can apply on behalf of an individual, for example Royal British Legion, SSAFA and Royal Air Force Association (RAFA).

Grants are available for serving and older veterans and immediate family members with everything from injury or illness, to financial hardship, disability, emotional wellbeing, transitioning back to civilian life and living independently

Who is eligible?

Past and present members of the Royal Air Force or associated forces and their immediate dependants (under 18).

Please note that for most applications you must usually have less than £16,000 (or £23,250 for residential / nursing care applications) and applicants will not normally receive help if they have more savings than this, or where there is significant disposable income. However, in extreme circumstances charities may still consider these applications.

How to apply?

Applications are accepted all year round and can be submitted through an ex-service welfare agency such as Royal British Legion, SSAFA and Royal Air Force Association (RAFA). These organisations hold the application forms.

The Fund also runs a free helpline which potential applicants are welcome to call for advice and support on the application process: 0800 169 2942
