Royal Variety Charity (formerly Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund)

The Royal Variety Charity assists those who’ve worked professionally in the entertainment industry and are in need of help.

This includes:

  • Cabaret
  • Children's entertainers
  • Circus artistes
  • Comedians
  • Entertainers
  • Mime artistes
  • Pantomime
  • Puppeteers
  • Revue
  • Street entertainers
  • Technical backstage work
  • Television and radio artistes
  • Variety artistes.

The Charity helps with essential items, such as white goods and general living expenses. 

The Charity does not help with tuition fees, university costs or musical instruments.

Who is eligible?

Professional performers in entertainment and dependants of professional performers can apply for financial help from the Fund.

This includes:

  • Revue
  • Street entertainers
  • Technical backstage work
  • Television and radio artistes
  • Variety artistes.

The Royal Variety Charity does not offer assistance with regards to debts to banks, building societies, credit or debit cards. The charity does not give grants to settle any personal loans or income tax debts.

How to apply?

Individuals can apply directly or a social worker can apply on their behalf. Call the charity, or download the application form from the Royal Variety Charity website

Other information

The Royal Variety Charity also owns and manages its own residential and nursing care home in Twickenham for elderly entertainers.
