RSABI provides emotional, practical and financial support to people who are or were involved in farming (including fish farming), crofting and growing in Scotland, and their dependents.

Our financial support can be monthly payments or single grants for essential items including

  • food
  • heating
  • counselling
  • disability aids
  • funerals
  • retraining
  • items for the home, such as white goods

Who is eligible?

Applicants will be considered if they are:

  • Currently engaged in farming, crofting and growing, including occupations that primarily support agriculture.
  • No longer able to work due to age but can demonstrate 10 years of work in farming, crofting or growing.
  • Unable to work due to ill health or disability if the illness or disability prevented them meeting the 10 years occupational criteria.
  • Dependents of the above (most likely a spouse or partner).

Please note: The qualifying work must have taken place in Scotland.

Please note: All applications will be considered. However, in general, RSABI does not help with direct business costs or debts.

Applications are accepted from individuals and referral agencies.

Application forms are available to download on the RSABI website or can be requested via the helpline number above.

A home visit or phone call will be organised by RSABI to discuss your application.

RSABI contacts all applicants, whether or not they can help.

Applications are considered all year round.
