Who is eligible?

Scottish people (by birth or upbringing) who have already shown ability and promise and wish to take their studies or training further in order to start a career.

We give priority to postgraduate students working for a higher degree or similar qualification. In looking for 'ability and promise' we generally look for a good first degree (first class honours or close to it) or equivalent qualification as evidence.

What we don't fund

The Trust does not normally make grants for:

  • Courses leading to qualifications required for entry into a profession (for example: teaching or legal practice).
  • Purchase of musical instruments
  • Undergraduate courses or courses below degree level.

How to apply?

In writing via post or email to the charity including:

  • Your CV
  • Details of the course and the amount of grant which you are looking for
  • A statement of your aims
  • Details of two referees.

All applicants must give the charity some information about their financial circumstances.

All applications are considered in the context of the applicant's achievements and promise.

Applications may be submitted at any time and will be assessed when received. Grants may be awarded at this stage or may be submitted to the board of trustees for a second assessment, therefore if timings are crucial, applications should be submitted by 7th February or 7th August in time for the six-monthly trustee meetings.

See the Scottish International Education Trust website for more information on how to apply.
