ScottishPower Hardship Fund

You might be able to apply to the ScottishPower Hardship fund if you are a ScottishPower customer and you are struggling to pay your gas and electricity bills because of financial difficulties.

The Hardship Fund reduces or clears the ScottishPower energy debt.

Who is eligible?

You might be eligible if you currently receive, or used to receive ScottishPower's domestic energy supply and are in arrears because you are facing financial hardship.

To be eligible, you should:

  • Make contact with a free debt advice agency to understand how to manage your income and expenditure
  • Demonstrate your ability to manage your current financial situation by making regular payments for ongoing usage for at least three full months.

Priority will be given to people:

  • With chronic or debilitating illnesses or conditions
  • With mental health issues
  • Households experiencing other situations such as a medical dependency of electricity or be on our Priority Services Register or Special Needs group.
  • Families with young children
  • Who are older.

How to apply?

  • You can apply directly
  • a support worker, fuel poverty advisor or third party organisation can apply for you
  • a friend or relative can make the application on your behalf. In this instance the Account Holder still needs to sign the form, unless the friend or relative has Power of Attorney.

Social Enterprise Direct Ltd administrate the fund on behalf of ScottishPower. You can apply in three ways:

How long will it take?

Once your application has been submitted it can take up to 5 working days to be reviewed by the SED team. They will write to you to confirm whether your application has been approved and to notify you if an award has been made and credited to your ScottishPower account.
