Shipwrecked Fishermen & Mariners’ Royal Benevolent Society

Fishermen, merchant seaman and their widows and dependants, who are on a low income, are eligible for a grant. The Society gives priority to widows, people over 60, as well as those who are sick or disabled.

There is a minimum sea service of five years for one-off grants and 10 years for recurrent grants.

Who is eligible?

Fishermen, mariners and their widows and dependants, who live in the UK or Ireland and who in need. Priority is given to people aged over 60, people in poor health and widows. Must have at least five years of sea service experience for one-off grants and 10 years for bi-annual grants.
