Sir Ralph Pendlebury Charity for Orphans

The Sir Ralph Pendlebury Charity for Orphans gives financial support by way of regular, one-off and seasonal grants to young people aged under 18 (or over if in full-time education), who have lived in the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council for two years and who:

  • Have lost one or both parents, or
  • Have a parent who has found it difficult financially to bring up that young person because of long-term illness, or
  • Live in a single parent family that has financial difficulties.

Grants are given to help with living expenses, educational costs, etc.

Who is eligible?

Young people, aged under 18 (or over if in full-time education), who have lived in the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council for two years and who:

  • Have lost one or both parents, or
  • Have a parent who has found it difficult financially to bring up that young person because of long-term illness, or
  • Live in a single parent family that has financial difficulties.

Exclusions

Any applications for costs that the Governors are likely to consider unreasonable in the circumstances.

 

How to apply?

Grants are normally paid to the parent(s) or guardian of the young person.

Apply by email or letter. An application form is completed by the charity's visitor in a meeting with the applicant in their home.

Grants are also given to organisations working with young people in the Stockport area.
