Skinners' Benevolent Trust

The Skinners’ Benevolent Trust provides immediate needs grants of up to £250 to assist in purchasing essential household items for people who live West Kent, Romney Marsh (Kent only) and the London Boroughs of Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Hounslow.

Who is eligible?

People in financial need who meet the criteria below who live in West Kent, Romney Marsh and the London Boroughs of Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Hounslow. Our main priority is to help people who are: Living with mental health issues In recovery from substance/alcohol use Victims of domestic violence Older/retired people suffering from a disability and/or chronic illness and families on a very low income. We cannot help with applicants who: Have received a grant from us in the previous 2 years, Need help with general living expenses/rent arrears, mobility or computer equipment or funding for items already purchased or have applied to us before having applied for statutory funding.

How to apply?

We do not accept direct applications from individuals. Applications must be submitted by a supporting/referral agency, eg: housing support agencies, medical and/or a social care team, disability organisations, rehab organisations, or local welfare charities. The agency should have a personal and ongoing knowledge of the applicant's circumstances and the ability to receive and monitor any grant. Applications are normally processed within four weeks, though urgent cases can be considered more quickly.

Other information

Grants range up to a maximum of £250 and referral agencies must clearly identify a single cost for a specific item(s) and provide us with an estimate of costs. Please see the Skinners' Company website for full details of our eligibility criteria and guidelines.
