Stratford-upon-Avon Relief in Need Charity

The Stratford-upon-Avon Relief in Need Charity exists primarily to provide financial assistance to needy individuals and families living within the town boundary of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Trustees award grants for a specific need only, such as essential items of furniture and household equipment (for example, bed, support chair, cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine), mobility aids, household bills, essential clothing and footwear.

Who is eligible?

Individuals and families in need or distress who live in the town boundary of Stratford-upon-Avon.

What we can't help with

We do not give grants for debts, rent, Council Tax arrears or rental deposits.

We do not give grants for household items or mobility aids that people can get from statutory sources such as social services.


How to apply?

Applications are welcomed from individuals using a generic application form or via support agencies, such as Citizens Advice South Warwickshire, where a current Financial Statement is submitted on behalf of the applicant. Applications from organisations are considered based on a brief business case.

Applications are subject to income and savings assessment.

Documents required

Documentary evidence in support of financial information (income and savings) will be requested.

When applying for financial assistance in connection with a specific health condition, applicants will be asked to include, where possible, a letter from one of the following (GP, Occupational Therapist, Nurse for Older People, Warwickshire County Council Adult Health & Community Services, Support Worker, etc.) in support of the application.

The Stratford-upon-Avon Relief in Need Charity is part of a parent charity called the Municipal Charities of Stratford-upon-Avon. This parent charity manages low-cost, self-contained residential homes for people who are of state retirement age and above.
