Who is eligible?

People in need who live in Taunton Deane. A referring agency must submit the application on your behalf.

What we can't help with

  • Clearing debts
  • For items that public/statutory funds should cover
  • For school trips, school bags, stationery or other non–essential school items
  • For retrospective applications
  • For further/higher education course fees or books/materials
  • For deposits for accommodation
  •  For funeral expenses
  • For bankruptcy costs.

How to apply?

Download an application form from the Taunton Heritage Trust website or ring 01823 335348 (9.00 am to 12 noon).

Individuals should not apply directly. Instead, a registered referral agency, such as a family centre, Social Services or Citizens Advice, must complete the application form and submit it on behalf of the applicant. 

Application forms should be typed and posted to the address below. Applications will not be accepted if they are handwritten or emailed.

Applications are considered monthly on the first Wednesday of each month, with the deadline being 12 noon on the Friday before. Applications usually take about 1 or two weeks to be processed. 

Other information

We are an almshouse charity, providing accommodation for people aged 60 and over in need of financial and social support. Residents must be able to to live independently.
