The 1930 Fund for District Nurses

Grants are available for community nurses, district nurses, community psychiatric nurses, community midwives, health visitors or school nurses in the Community Health Services who are in financial need. Applicants can be working, unemployed or retired.

The charity awards grants for essential living costs, home maintenance or the purchase and installation of mobility aids for people with disabilities.

Who is eligible?

Qualified community nurses, district nurses, community psychiatric nurses, community midwives, health visitors or school nurses in the Community Health Services who are in financial need.

What we can't help with

  • care home fees
  • private healthcare
  • payment of debt
  • Payment of rent / council tax

How to apply?

Applicants can apply directly, or a third party can apply on the nurse's behalf. Download an application form from the 1930 Fund for Nurses website

Applications are considered at quarterly meetings. 

Other information

The Fund also runs a telephone befriending service for retired community nurses.
