The Anchor Society

Providing assistance to people over the age of 55 who are in need and live in the Greater Bristol area.

We provide emergency one-off grants to isolated, elderly people in genuine immediate need the Bristol area.  These grants can be used to help older people to stay independent and in their own homes and can include essential home repairs and adaptations, mobility aids and helping make homes more accessible and safe.

Who is eligible?

The Anchor Society considers applications from people who are:

  • over the age of 55
  • in financial need
  • live in the Greater Bristol area

How to apply?

Applications may be made in writing or by email and should include the following applicant details: Applicants should also indicate whether they have applied to any other charities for help. The society aims to respond to all enquiries within a few days.

  • LinkAge - The society has also invested in the provision of a new form of day care for elderly people within the region called LinkAge setup up to reduce isolation and loneliness in Bristol.  It has also invested in a number of housing projects the most recent one providing affordable housing for elderly people on a shared equity basis where necessary.
