The Benevolent Fund of the Institution of Civil Engineers

One off grants are available for current and former members of the Institution of Civil Engineers, and their dependants, both in the UK and overseas.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for a grant if you:

  • Are a current member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and have been for at least one year
  • Are a former member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and was for at least five years
  • The dependent of one of the above.

What we can't help with

  • Private school fees
  • Legal costs
  • Please note that applicants are means-tested.

Other information

The ICE provides other support to members and their families, such as:

  • 24-hour helpline (0800 587 3428) which offers support and advice on issues such as relationships, stress management, debt advice and redundancy issues
  • Bereavement counselling
  • An online portal providing advice about wellbeing
  • Access to some National Autistic Society services

The fund also administers Hanover Housing Association which it uses to help (ex-)members and their families who are facing difficult circumstances and need somewhere to live.
