The Birkenhead Relief in Sickness Fund

The fund provides one-off grants of up to £250 to people living in the old borough of Birkenhead on a low income and with a long-term sickness or their dependents.

Who is eligible?

The fund is for people in need through ill health who are on a low income and live in the Old Borough of Birkenhead (CH41, CH42, CH43 & some of CH49)

The applicants will be in a situation of need due to long-term sickness -  depression and anxiety disorders will be considered. 

The grants must be used to purchase essential items including white goods, bedroom furniture and, in some cases, carpets. 

How to apply?

Individuals should not apply directly. Instead, a third party such as a health visitor, social worker or advocate should refer a client.

The person who needs the grant will need to give evidence of sickness and attend an interview with the fund administrator.
