The Burma Star Association

The Association gives grants to Burma Star holders and their spouse, widow or widower who need financial assistance with:

  • Residential and care home fees and care home costs

  • Respite placements to cover hospitalisation of the carer

  • Help with the costs of wheelchairs and electronic scooters (EPVs)

  • Help with the costs of mobility aids, riser/recliner chairs, profiling beds and stair lifts

  • Communication aids and help with travelling expenses for hospital visits

  • Help with the cost of home adaptations and repairs

  • Personal aids

  • Household items such as a washing machine

  • Help with utility bills

Who is eligible?

You may be able to apply if you are a Burma Star holder or a spouse, widow or widower of one and:

  • you do not have more than £10,000 in savings

  • you are prepared to allow a caseworker to visit you in your home to complete an application form

Please note that the Association will not give grants for any items that have already been bought.
