The Egham United Charity

Grants to people in need who have lived in Egham, Englefield Green, Egham Hythe, Stroude and Virginia Water for at least five years. The charity occasionally gives grants to people who have lived their for less than five years.

Who is eligible?

People in need who have lived in Egham, Englefield Green, Egham Hythe or Virginia Water for at least five years. 

Examples of people who are usually eligible:

  • Families facing a crisis
  • Elderly people, living in their own home, who have problems brought on by mobility problems, being discharged from hospital, fuel bills etc.
  • People with  physical and mental disabilities living in their own homes, and their carers
  • Parents who find it impossible to provide for their children

We do not give grants for necessary items or services that the central or local government should pay for. We cannot give loans or recurrent grants.

How to apply?

The charity prefers a third party, such as social services, to apply on an individual's behalf. Download an application form from the Egham United Charity's website

Committee meetings are held every 6 weeks and ideally applications should be received by the Secretary 10 – 14 days beforehand to allow for investigation. Visit the Egham United Charity's website to find out when the next meeting is.

Other information

The Charity administers two groups of almshouses in Egham. There are six properties in Pooley Green Road and five, recently built, in Manor Farm Lane. These are for older ladies who have lived in the area for several years.
