The Florence Nightingale Aid-in-Sickness Trust

The Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust provides grants to help people in need who are ill, convalescent or disabled. These are used to provide medical and household aids related to the person's illness or disability or to help them manage at home and live as independently as possible.

Who is eligible?

People who are in poor health, convalescent or who have disabilities.

Some examples of what we will consider:

  • Medical aids such as Nebulisers and Tens machines, riser/ recliner chairs, manual, electronic and standing wheelchairs, or car seats
  • Orthopaedic mattresses
  • Washing machines
  • Communication aids, reading aids and sensory equipment 
  • Convalescent and respite breaks

What we can't help with

  • Home, garden or car adaptations
  • Nursing home fees
  • Household bills or clothing
  • Debts

How to apply?

Applications should be made by a professional on the individual's behalf, such as a social worker, doctor, nurse or Citizens' Advice. Download an application form from The Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust's website
