Who is eligible?

Grants are only given to those who live in the central area of Guildford (see the map on the Guildford Poyle Charities website for area covered) and will consider offering assistance for:

  • Kitchen items and appliances, such as white goods
  • Furniture
  • Baby equipment
  • Travel and training costs

They do not usually give grants to pay for basic items such as food, rent and utility bills, and debt or arrears.

How to apply?

Applications forms can be downloaded from the Guildford Poyle Charities website or requested from the charity's office.

The charity accepts applications from individuals in need directly but a professional referee is required (see below).

To assist with your application:

  • Include as much information as possible about your circumstances and the reason why you need the grant. Application forms which do not include enough information will be returned with a request for more
  • If possible, get a professional who knows your circumstances to send a referral letter with the application. They may also apply directly on your behalf. If you do not have a professional working with you, you must include the name of someone who understands your circumstances so that we can get in contact with them if we need to
  • Send completed application forms via e-mail or post.

Applications are considered by the Trustees every 2 to 3 weeks. The charity will tell you their decision by post as soon as possible after the meeting.  All applications receive a reply whether or not the charity can help.
