The Johnston Educational Foundation

Grants available to individuals aged 24 and under who live in Durham City and have lived there for at least two years who have attended one of the city's comprehensive schools for at least two years. Below is a list of eligible schools: 

  • Belmont Community School
  • Durham Community Business College
  • Durham Johnston Comprehensive School
  • Durham Sixth Form Centre
  • Durham Trinity School and Sports College
  • Framwellgate School, Durham
  • St Leonard’s RC Comprehensive School

The Foundation can help with the cost of:

  • equipment, uniform, educational trips, research trips or books for students at school, college or university
  • interview clothes, uniform, smart work clothes, tools, equipment and books for people who are trying to gain employment
  • materials, books, instruments or educational trips for people studying music or other arts
