The Joseph Levy Education Fund

We provide grants to people with Cystic Fibrosis who are undertaking further education or career development.

We give yearly grants of around £600 to help students with Cystic Fibrosis with the additional costs of studying while living with the condition.

What we give grants for

  • help with living costs (e.g. travel, en-suite accommodation, high calorie food, heating)

  • purchase educational materials (e.g. books or equipment)

  • help with course fees when these are not fully covered by a student loan or funds from other sources.

Who is eligible?

To be able to apply you must:

  • Have Cystic Fibrosis

  • Be a UK resident

  • Want help to take a course at an accredited university, college or other educational institution or course provider

  • Be 18 or over at the time your course is due to start. However, we will accept applications from people aged 16 to 17 who wish to undertake vocational training instead of formal further education.

You can apply again to the Education Fund if you have received a grant from us in the past. You can only submit one application per year.

What we can't help with

  • The costs of studying at a private institution unless there is no alternative course available at a statutory provider (such as a further education college).

  • Gym fees: the Cystic Fibrosis Trust offers grants for this – please see their website

  • Repayment of a student loan or other debts.

How to apply?

Individuals can apply directly. Submit an application online on our website. Alternatively, print the application form from the website and post the completed form to us.

You can apply at any time of the year. The charity considers applications twice a year:

  • Applications received by 31st May will be assessed in June

  • Applications received by 30th November will be assessed in December.
