The Joseph Patrick Trust

The Joseph Patrick Trust provides grants towards the costs of specialist equipment such as powered wheelchairs, adapted computers and electric beds, for children and adults with muscular dystrophy or a related neuromuscular condition.

Who is eligible?

People with muscular dystrophy or a related condition. Grants are available for items such as:

  • Manual and powered wheelchairs
  • Scooters
  • Electric beds
  • Trikes
  • Computers
  • Vehicle adaptations
  • Riser chairs
  • Mobile arm supports
  • Therapy equipment (includes standing frames, exercise bikes)
  • Portable aids (includes portable hoists, folding ramps etc.)

What we do not fund

  • holidays, household adaptations or building works, or domestic appliances
  • equipment which has already been ordered or purchased
  • recurring costs, such as wheelchair repairs, insurance, batteries, tyres etc
  • purchase or lease of vehicles; vehicle deposits, maintenance or repair of vehicles.

The Joseph Patrick Trust is the welfare fund of Muscular Dystrophy UK. Muscular Dystrophy UK provides support to people with muscle-wasting conditions. Their Advocacy team supports anyone with a muscle-wasting condition who is having difficulties getting the care and support, services, benefits and equipment they are entitled to.
