Who is eligible?

The Leonardo Trust can help any unpaid carer living in Dorset who is caring for another irrespective of relationship without discrimination or bias who is:

  • Caring for approximately 75% of their time. The carer can work on a part time basis.
  • Registered with social services.
  • Receiving or not receiving benefits.
  • With/without savings.

Most grants are given via a supplier of goods or services or by giving items rather than money.  However, we also give crisis cash grants of £150 which can be used for most things, except debt and overdraft payments.

Please note: We do not give grants for debt payments.

How to apply?

You can apply using the application form on the Leonardo Trust website.

You can also contact the charity at the contact details below to request an application form.

Carers can apply directly but a supporting letter/statement about the applicant's caring situation is required from a health or social care professional.

Applications are looked at as soon as an enquiry is submitted and we treat all with compassion and understanding.

For some applications, we will ask you if a member of the Leonardo Trust team can visit you at a convenient time to discuss your situation as there may be some other services and support we can offer you.

We take 1-2 weeks on average to process grant applications. We reply to all applicants, whether or not we can help with a grant.
