The Marine Society and Sea Cadets

Scholarships and interest-free loans are available for people who work in the merchant navy. Scholarships are given to help professional seafarers gain qualifications that are essential to their work, or to advance their professional development.

Scholarship can be given to anyone who is a Merchant Navy rating, Electro Technical Officer (ETO), Workboat or Yacht crew who wishes to study for the STCW Officer of the Watch, deck or engine qualifications. 

Scholarships are also given to officers who want to take academic qualifications such as a bachelors or master’s degree in Maritime Operations or Marine Engineering.

Other information

Sea Cadets runs community activities for children and young people to help develop the confidence and skills you need to thrive - teamwork and leadership, plus you can work towards qualifications in our accredited courses. Activities include rock climbing, windsurfing and diving, or more traditional activities like drill, piping and band.
