The Mary Grave Trust

The Trust gives grants to children and young people aged 11 to 21 who were born in the old county of Cumberland. Grants are given to help them travel abroad for educational purposes. 

This is a means tested grants programme. Applicants’ total gross household income must be less than £539 per week.

Examples of activities supported:

  • school or youth organisation trips

  • gap year activities

  • work experience activities

  • activities that are part of a further or higher education course

Who is eligible?

You may be able to apply if you are:

  • 11-21 years old
  • have have attended full time education within the last two years
  • was born and live in the old county of Cumberland
  • priority is given to to people who live in Workington, Maryport and Whitehaven areas

What we can't help with

  • individuals born outside the old county of Cumberland
  • trips in the UK and family holidays
