The Security Benevolent Fund

Please note: The Fund is for members of the Security Profession only.

The services that the Security Benevolent Fund provides are designed to comply with the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals' charitable objectives by advancing and protecting the welfare, education and wellbeing of potential beneficiaries engaged within the security profession and, in particular 'to administer benevolence to any deserving members of the profession, at the discretion of the Trustees.

Individuals sometimes fall on hard times and need help getting back on their feet. In order to return to work, they may also require medical care or assistance which is not readily available without some financial support.

The Trustees are willing to consider applications for grants from the Security Benevolent Fund subject to an application form being completed and a willingness to disclose information (medical, social and financial) which will allow for proper assessment and an accountable distribution of funds. It should be noted that money is rarely if ever paid directly to an individual but rather to a supporting organisation or a company in payment of a credited invoice.

Who is eligible?

Grants available to anyone who is currently, or has been, employed in the security industry.

Please note: Funds are not normally provided for the renewal of Security Industry Authority (SIA) licences or the payment of bankruptcy fees.

How to apply?

An application form can be obtained by email (see contact details below).

The Fund accepts applications from individuals directly or from intermediaries (such as health and social care professionals, people working for charities or welfare advisers etc) working with them.

The Fund will need to ask applicants about medical, social and financial information. This is to enable them to do a proper assessment.

If your application is successful, the payment will usually be given to a supporting organisation or a company in payment of a credited invoice, and not straight to the individual.

Please note that sometimes the Fund is unable to respond to applicants if their application has not been successful.

Applications are considered all year round.
