The Society for Theatre Research

The Society for Theatre Research gives grants to individuals who need help with the cost of research projects of British theatre. For example, the research might be about the history, historiography, art, or practice of the British theatre. This includes music-hall, opera, dance, and performing arts.

Who is eligible?

People involved in research of the history, historiography, art or practice of the British theatre, including music-hall, opera, dance, and and performing arts. For example, Private scholars, theatre professionals, academic staff, and students carrying out research can apply. 

Applicants can be of any nationality. 

Please note: No grants for course fees unless the course is for specific professional training in research techniques

Application forms can be downloaded from the Society for Theatre Research's website

Applications are awarded once a year, in May. The deadline to receive applications is March of each year.
