The Stirlingshire Educational Trust (SET)

Stirlingshire Educational Trust awards educational grants to people who have been resident in Stirlingshire - currently or in the past - for at least five consecutive years.

The Trust gives grants for:

  • Post-graduate scholarships
  • Travel for education
  • School trips
  • Educational courses for adults

Who is eligible?

People who have been resident in Stirlingshire - currently or in the past - for a period of at least five consecutive years.

Stirlingshire includes: Stirling, Falkirk, Kilsyth, Grangemouth, Denny/ Bonnybridge, Polmont and District. If you are unsure if you live in one of these areas, please contact the Trust to check.

Grants given include:

Grant for Travel Post-graduation Scholarship: for research work, advanced or special study for those who have obtained a degree. 

Grant for Travel Scholarship: to enable the applicant to travel within the UK or abroad for purposes of an educational nature.

Special Grant for mature applicants (21 years of age of over): to help those who have left school without obtaining the necessary educational qualifications to enter university or an institute of further education.

Grant while serving apprenticeship and/or gaining practical experience of a trade, profession etc: To help with actual expenses from taking courses at post-school educational establishments and/or obtaining training/experience at the place of an employer or such work placement.

The Governors meet on the 1st Wednesday of June, September, December and March. Please ensure your application is made at least three weeks before the date of the meeting.
