The Timber Trades Benevolent Society (TTBS)

Grants for people who:

  • have worked in the Timber Trade in the UK for at least 10 years (or 5 in extreme cases) as employees of companies engaged in the trading and distribution of wood based products
  • Are on low incomes
  • Have little or no savings
  • Live within the UK.

Employees of trussed rafter manufacturing companies, who are accredited members of the Trussed Rafter Association (TRA), and accredited timber preservative processing companies (such as Arch Timber Protection and Koppers,) may also be able to apply.

The charity can give grants for TV licence payments, Telephone rental allowances, a Winter Warmer fuel grant and white goods and televisions. The charity occasionally gives respite and funeral grants.

How to apply?

Individuals can apply directly or a third party, such as a charity of Citizens Advice, can apply on their behalf. Please note that a volunteer may visit individuals. Contact TTBS for an application form.
