The Tower Hamlets and Canary Wharf Further Education Trust

The Tower Hamlets and Canary Wharf Further Education Trust's mission is to promote further and higher education as well as vocational training for Tower Hamlets residents. It particularly focuses on people in the greatest need of financial support to make the journey through education and into employment. 

Applicants must have lived in Tower Hamlets since 21 June 2016. (The date changes every year.)

Financial grants to help with education costs for Tower Hamlets residents taking the following:

  • Further education course
  • Higher education course
  • Residential agricultural course
  • Postgraduate course for a vocational qualification.

Who is eligible?

Applicants should live in Tower Hamlets and have been resident in the borough since 21 June 2016. (This date changes every year.)

Exceptions may be made for those who have recently been granted refugee status. 

Any resident not eligible for mainstream student finance can apply for support with fees.

Residents with a household income below £13,000 can also apply for maintenance support.The deadline for grants are in June of every year.

Exclusions

In general, the trust will not fund students who can obtain financial assistance from central or local government through schemes like Student Finance or the Mayor’s Education Award.

Anyone with limitations on their ability to remain in the UK will normally not be eligible to apply.

An application form and guidance notes are available on the Tower Hamlets Borough Council's website.
