The Westminster Amalgamated Charity

The Westminster Amalgamated Charity gives grants to individuals who currently live, work or study in the London Borough of Westminster or if they have previously lived or worked in this borough for five years or more. Individuals must also be:

  • On a low income or in receipt of benefits
  • On a low income or in receipt of benefits and have a disability
  • Homeless and living in a hostel

The charity can give grants for:

  • Clothing
  • Essential household items such as furniture, white goods and kitchen equipment
  • Holidays in the UK for individuals aged 60 or over
  • Decorating, carpeting or flooring

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Currently live, work or study in the London Borough of Westminster
  • Or you have previously lived or worked in this borough for five years or more.

You must also be:

  • On a low income or in receipt of benefits
  • On a low income or in receipt of benefits and have a disability
  • Homeless and living in a hostel

What we can't help with

  • anything that statutory sources, such as the local authorities, can provide
  • TVs; CD/DVD players; mobile phones; computers/software etc;
  • educational needs or holidays abroad
  • emergency cash grants or crisis loans
  • money for debt repayment
  • rent or any kind of fees or incurred costs
  • items that have already been paid for

How to apply?

A recognised agency such as Social Services, Citizens Advice, Housing Association, Hostel or any registered charity working in Westminster should apply on their behalf. An individual should not apply directly. The agency can download the application from The Westminster Amalgamated Charity website

Individuals need to have made an application to Westminster City Council's Local Support Payments Scheme before a professional applies on their behalf.

Applications are considered all year round. Grants applications generally take 4-6 weeks to process but can take longer if required information is missing, so please ensure that all requested information is provided.
