Wimbledon Guild of Social Welfare

One-off small grants are given to individuals in need who live in the London Borough of Merton.

Grants are for emergency cash and items such as white goods, primary school uniforms and beds.

Who is eligible?

Individuals in need who live in the borough of Merton and who have not applied to the Guild in the past 12 months. All state grants and loans should have been applied for. The charity might be more likely to give a grant to someone who has been directly involved in, or is a dependent or descendant of someone involved in the armed forces.

What we can't help with

  • people who live outside of Merton (unless they are under the care of the London Borough of Merton)
  • carpets or flooring
  • debts or arrears
  • ongoing costs or living expenses
  • university fees
  • anything that has already been paid for

How to apply?

Applicants for emergency cash grants should first phone the Guild.

If you are looking for help to buy household items, please download the application form from the Wimbledon Guild website and send the completed form by email or post.

Other information

The Guild also provides a counselling services, a befriending service and activities for older people.
