Zinthiya Trust

The Zinthiya Trust helps women and families in Leicester and Leicestershire experiencing poverty, a transition in their lives or who are in an emergency situation. This includes families in debt or experiencing food and/or fuel poverty and women and girls experiencing or at risk of all types of abuse, including psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional abuse.

We manage small grants schemes providing grants to improve financial stability and the relief of hardship/poverty

We also provide one-to-one bespoke support, mentoring, information, advice, guidance for money, debt, benefits, energy, and domestic abuse issues.

Our support service is aimed at making our service users more secure financially, emotionally and physically and ensure they can lead fulfilling lives.

Who is eligible?

Women in need living in Leicester or Leicestershire, including those with no recourse to public funds.

Small grants may be given to help with:

  • Gas and electric top-ups
  • Emergency food
  • Telephone top-ups
  • Rent deposits
  • Household essentials
  • Baby essentials
  • School uniform
  • Help to obtain identity documents
  • Debt Relief Order (DRO) fees
  • Small household energy efficiency measures.

Grants may be given directly to the woman in need or through a supplier, depending on grant need.


We don't give grants for bankruptcy fees or funeral costs.

We will contact you to discuss your circumstances and check your eligibility for a grant.

Application process

We look at enquiries/applications as soon as they are received.

Applications take about seven days to process.

We reply to all applicants, whether or not we can help.

Documents required

Two payslips if paid monthly or four payslips if paid weekly as well as a copy of letters giving details of benefit awards.

Other information

We provide practical support to help people to improve their financial position. This includes information, advice and guidance with energy, money, debt, and benefits issues.

We provide support to reduce household bills, maximise income, deal with problem debt, improve financial skills, improve energy efficiency, reduce fuel and food poverty and apply for grants to help with white goods and furniture to set up home. In addition, we offer opportunities to develop skills through work placements, volunteering opportunities and support to get people into employment.
