If you are on a limited income, are a single parent or have recently lost your job, you may be worried about how you are going to afford the costs of Christmas.

Most grant-giving charities do not provide specific grants to help people meet the costs of Christmas. However, some may consider applications of this nature, depending on your particular circumstances and background. Others might give grants to help with basic needs, which could free up some of your money to pay for Christmas expenses.

However, grant application processes take some time and there are often increased demands on charitable funds in the months running up to Christmas, so you need to apply early.

Our Grants Search does not tag charitable fund schemes by "Christmas", “presents” or “Xmas presents”.

To find charitable funds that may be able to help you, you need to search on all aspects of your circumstances that may be relevant – e.g. occupation (remember to think about the industries you have worked in as well as the jobs you have had), health conditions, nationality – using the categories of the Grants Search.

Once you have a list of charitable funds based on your search, check the profiles for information on who they help and what they help with.

Some charities give grants according to individual need. If the profile doesn’t specifically state that the charity can't help with funeral costs, it may be worth contacting any charities that match your circumstances and background to ask if they can help.
